Frequently asked questions
Is Tax Tidy right for me?
Tax Tidy is a Windows desktop app built for Australians and very small operator-led businesses that work from bank statements, need clearer records before BAS time, and want accountant handoff material without adopting a full cloud ledger.
Is there a free trial?
Yes. Download the Windows desktop app. No card required. The 30-day Sole Trader trial starts in the app. Website subscriptions start immediately if you choose a paid plan from pricing.
What does the trial include?
The trial gives you the Sole Trader workflow in the Windows app: statement import, transaction review, categorisation, reports, GST/BAS summaries, accountant handoff export, and one Sole Trader workspace.
Do I need Sole Trader, Simple Company, or Accountant Package?
Choose Sole Trader for an individual business under its own ABN, Simple Company for an incorporated business with basic company records, and Accountant Package for multiple client workspaces.
Is Tax Tidy a full accounting suite?
No. Tax Tidy is a focused Windows desktop product for transaction record review, GST/BAS summary preparation, and accountant handoff export. It is not positioned as a full general ledger, payroll, or inventory system.
Does Tax Tidy provide tax advice or lodge BAS?
No. Tax Tidy helps organise records and prepare summaries. It does not provide tax, legal, or financial advice, and it does not lodge BAS for you.
Can I export records for my accountant?
Yes. Sole Trader, Simple Company, Accountant Package, and workspaces with the Tax add-on include accountant handoff export so you can send organised review material instead of a stack of raw bank CSV files.
What data stays on my computer?
Your imported statement files, transaction review work, rules, notes, receipts, and reports stay in the Windows app data on your device unless you choose to export or share them.
What data does the Windows app collect?
The Windows app is offline-first and does not upload your imported statements, transaction data, receipt files, rules, notes, reports, or exported workbooks to Tax Tidy. Subscription activation and status checks use license and account metadata only.
What data do we collect?
The website stores the account email, plan and order records, license metadata, invoice records, support messages you send, and billing events needed to deliver the subscription. The Windows app does not upload your tax or bookkeeping records to Tax Tidy, and Tax Tidy does not store full card numbers or CVV values.
How do plan changes work?
Use your account page to change plans. Plan changes keep your billing cycle in place. Higher-priced changes are charged now with any unused paid time on the prior plan prorated where applicable. Lower-priced changes are scheduled for your next renewal.
How do billing and invoices work?
Paid plans are billed monthly with GST included in the listed price. You can sign in to your Tax Tidy account to view subscription status, invoices, and plan changes.
How do I redeem my license key in the app?
After checkout, Tax Tidy emails the license key for your paid subscription. Open the app, choose Redeem Key from the activation screen, and paste the code.
How many devices can use one license key?
Each license key is single-use and binds to one active device. If you replace your machine or need a reset, contact support.
What support can I expect?
Contact the support inbox or form. Support replies within one business day.
What is the refund policy?
General refund requests are reviewed case-by-case. Contact support within 14 days of purchase. For qualifying upgrades, Tax Tidy also attempts an automatic prorated refund for unused paid time on the prior plan.
Still not sure which path to take?
Download the Windows desktop app to test fit first. No card required. The 30-day Sole Trader trial starts in the app with statement import, review, categorisation, reports, GST/BAS summaries, accountant handoff exports, and one Sole Trader workspace. Go to pricing if you already know which subscription you want. Contact support if you want a straight answer on fit.
